SAD, SAD REALITY…

I am worried and bothered
That a man thinks he’s God
He goes about boasting
He tells himself
‘I have this and that’
‘By my might and strength’
I am reminded of The Rich Fool
I am reminded of King Nebuchadnezzar
I am reminded of Ramses
I am reminded of exalted kings
And how God brought them down
I have seen that we are ‘wise’
Indeed, we are wise in our own eyes
And that wisdom is indeed folly,
We are haughty and lofty in mind
We are proud and risen in heart
We blow our trumpets and sing our praises
We boast of perfection and no weakness
We know it all and need no man

For indeed we are all islands and need no one
With poise, we say ‘THERE IS NO GOD’
We believe not in the Divine
It’s a sad sight,
For with all our knowledge
We are yet to scratch the surface of wisdom
With all our intellect,
We cannot decipher life’s mysteries
Such a sad, sad reality
Is there anything like reality?
If there is, I pray mine will be thus:
Be Thou my wisdom, and Thou my true word
I ever with Thee, and Thou with me, Lord.
Lest I go about thinking I know it all
Whereas I am nothing but a noisy gong.
