Who can help a man?
If God does not help him?
Pray, o mortal for the Lord’s help
Cry, o mankind for His right hand
For life will surely throw its blows
Woe betide you to parry it alone
For as the wind clears things from its path,
So will you be swept off,
So trust not in your strength
Rely not on your wisdom
Gaze not on your beauty,
Live not on your own
Pray, o mortal for the Lord’s help
