As I look back
And count my blessings,
I see pain
I see gain
I see tears,
I see smiles
I see anger,
I see cheer
I wonder;
On what I have,
And have not
On what I gave,
And gave not
Where I began
And where I am
Did I sing songs?
Of hope or doom?
Did I trust God?
Or trusted my might
Was He my Lord?
In plenty or plight?
Did I have faith?
Or did I in the tempest sink?
Did I believe in fate?
Or in Christ, the true King
