Forgiveness and Freedom

Today I will be teaching FORGIVENESS AND FREEDOM

Freedom means to be liberated from something that has been oppressing or caging one down. This can be in form of physical, mental and spiritual oppression.

Unforgiveness and bitterness can also be a way to a cage one down as it is described as poisoning your own self while expecting the person who hurt you to feel its effects

Ephesians 4:32 New International Version (NIV)

32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

We as Christians are meant to forgive each other as we try to become like Christ each day. But that is easier said than done.

To forgive is beyond our human nature, it is something that comes from God and it is by his Grace that we are able to forgive one another.

If you’ve noticed, it says CHRIST GOD, this is to emphasise the greatest act of forgiveness and freedom when Jesus died on the cross for us. He was the lamb that was slain for our sins so that we could have eternal life.

Tonight I would like to focus on the *benefits of having a forgiving nature and how it can liberate your soul and spirit

1. Forgiving shows that you acknowledge that you are also human

we humans step on each other’s toes and we offend one another very easily. Whether you are the most perfect person in the world, what you do consciously or unconsciously has offended/hurt someone in some way or the other. By recognising that no one is perfect, you will be able to forgive others as it shows that you understand that you are not above man since you are also human.

Unforgiveness can be associated with pride and the bible states how God hates pride and how it is an abomination to him.

If you yourself know that you are perfect then throw the first stone. If not, let go and forgive the person. there’s no point holding a grudge because, after several days, the person will forget and move on with their life, while you are still upset over nothing.

2. Forgiveness liberates your soul

I’ve been in a position where I had resentment towards someone for a good reason too, but at the end of the day, it was eating away my good character. I wasn’t myself anymore and I was just bitter and the ability to love others and myself was hard. And this was because where one is holding bitterness/resentment God won’t want to be around such a person.  (Note that I didn’t say leave the person, God won’t forsake you)

Imagine being around someone who is bitter and angry, even if it isn’t towards you, you will feel the energy. Would you want to be around such a person? No. As much as God will prod you to forgive and let go, you have to be the one to decide because you’re the only person it is really affecting.

So forgiveness liberates your soul as it opens your heart to God’s love. It brings you closer to him and as you get closer to him, he brings you closer to good people and the love you have will radiate to those around you

I’ll end it with just those points so the other teachers can elaborate more as the week progresses

Psalms 47

Psalms 47 NIV.

Verse 5-9 stood out to me:

[5] God has ascended amid shouts of joy,
the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets.
[6] Sing praises to God, sing praises;
sing praises to our King, sing praises.
[7] For God is the King of all the earth;
sing to him a psalm of praise.

[8] God reigns over the nations;
God is seated on his holy throne.
[9] The nobles of the nations assemble
as the people of the God of Abraham,
for the kings[a] of the earth belong to God;
he is greatly exalted.

Some translations say KJV

[9] The nobles of the nations assemble
as the people of the God of Abraham,
for the shields [a] of the earth belong to God;
he is greatly exalted.

It talks about how we should praise God and how he is the king of kings and all praise belongs to him. He is holy and he reigns. For me, it makes me feel secure in him knowing that he is bigger and powerful than all these kings and government that we see. His throne is holy, there is no bloodshed and he is worthy of our praises. Remember that praise and worship bring God’s presence down and opens up doors of favour.

I’m not sure what situation you are in or whatever you are facing. But God is in control. I heard something today via an instalive. The singer CalledOutMusic was saying how it’s important to go into the new week with a new mindset and to always reset ourselves the night before.
Go into October with a fresh mind, not with the items of baggage of September. Believe that GOD is on your side and he shall open great doors onto you. You attract what you give out; if you are creating a cloud of negativity, you will attract negativity. SPEAK INTO EXISTENCE and it shall happen.

I hope this encouraged someone tonight. God loves you so so much and he wants you to open your heart and eyes to him

Faith 2

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Ephesians 5:19‭-‬20 KJV

By surrounding oneself with praises and worshipping God, it opens the window for God to dwell in us and wherever we go. Faith believes in what we can’t see. By praising God for the unknown and recognising that he is great, is the key to faith.

The same way we should pray without ceasing is the exact way we should praise God always. He deserves all our praises, it is by his Grace and Mercy we are not consumed.

Ephesians 5: 15-17 NIV  states:

*15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is*

Throughout Ephesians 5 verses 8 to 20 it spoke about how we should be different from those in the dark and the fruit of those who are in the light (in Christ) which consist of all goodness, righteousness and truth according to verse 9.

Now, let us check ourselves and deep something, if we want to build FAITH in GOD, we have to be children of the light, we have to draw towards him like a moth to the light. Also, the term “light” also represents guidance. If one is in darkness, they can’t see anything and are only led by what they can feel and that is usually panic and chaos. Whereas, those in the light walk in Christ and are intentional about knowing his ways, and it’s through this FAITH dwells in us. And that is because, as we walk in the light, we are simply telling God I can see your goodness, and I recognise it, therefore, I know the God that I serve, and I choose to have FAITH in you, for your works are perfect before me

Seek the Lord

Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God;
1 Chronicles 22:19a KJV

When you seek him, that when you’ll find all that you need. Support, love, acceptance. Faith comes from knowing who God is, understanding his power. Then, you’ll be able to trust in his power, love and protection upon your life.

He’s an amazing father, I pray you to open your heart and soul to his goodness today.
