The invisible infection

Philippians 2:3 New King James Version (NKJV)

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

An invisible infection.

You see, we have many responsibilities in life, some of them are innate , others are learnt. While, some are difficult to always get right.

But there’s a duty that focuses less on us and more on others. It is called dealing with Pride and selfishness.

I am sure you know that Pride and selfishness kills relationships, friendships and everything in between faster than we can imagine.

James 4:6 New King James Version (NKJV)

But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:

“God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.”

Pride makes us appear to be like God, while selfishness narrows our eyes to only see ourselves and not others. Each of these don’t come alone. They bring their nasty friends and grow very fast like an infection.

One that can’t be seen with our eyes. It takes a short period of time before it comes to the surface.

The truth about Pride and selfishness is that, we all have it. And we should all work on it.

Pride breeds prejudice, racism, tribalism all these isms. But does it ever breed love, peace, kindness, gentleness? NO.

Swallowing one’s Pride doesn’t mean it’s gone. It doesn’t mean that it wont return like a ticklish cough. It will return again unless we deal with its roots.

Love Diana,
