I wish the government listened
To the demands being made,
So there won’t be need for chants and protests,
I wish we made decisions,
One that is merit-driven
And not based on my skin
I wish you’ll see that beyond the surface,
Lies a heart of truth,
Of determination, resilience and excellence
I wish you’ll know,
That we fought and still fight,
A system that enables oppression
I pray to God that we’ll see –
Each other as one
And not through a strata…
