O RIVER

O River,
I wish you would cry no more,
Who made you sad?
That your tears know no bounds
Was it a sad tale you heard?
Or did rage fill you so?
I wish telling you sorry,
Would make it go away
For your gentle touch,
Now seems to hurt;
And your tenderness
Now drowns me in its tempest,
O River,
Weep no more,
For your cries,
Make others wail,
And your tears,
Bring sadness to others
For we wish of those times,
When we dwelt together,
In peace and harmony
When we washed our faces in you,
When you were our mirror
Please bring back the days of yore
When we dwelt together…
