Puffed up by the toxicity of self importance

Blinded by our soiled quest to be seen

Excusing our excesses

And amplifying the mistakes of others

Allowing the lofty feeling of significance

Gradually strengthen our walls of arrogance

Parading like a healthy self worth

Yet tossing around others with a sense of dignity

At humanity’s expense

But nothing is more destructive

Like the lies we tell ourselves

Acknowledging we are needy

And willing to embrace His help

Sets us free from the bondage

We created for ourselves
