‘Tis the season of –
Wrapped gifts and greeting cards,
Jingle bells and carols,
Pine trees and ornaments,
Festivity and merriment…
‘Tis the season of –
Celebration and joy
To see loved ones
From distant lands
And long-gone neighbors,
While we are merry and cheer,
I implore you to bring to fore
The reason for the season
And to think upon
Why we we merry and cheer…
‘Tis the season of –
The Saviour King
The Hope of the World
Man’s Redeemer
The One True God…
(c) Chukwudi I.

I love how this gently pulls the reader back from all the glitter and noise to the quiet center of it all. The way you repeat “’Tis the season of –” and then shift from ribbons and reunions to “The Saviour King / The Hope of the World” feels like a holy redirect for the heart. Thank you for the reminder that our joy isn’t just in what’s under the tree, but in the One who hung upon the tree—our Redeemer, the true reason we can be merry and cheer.
