How God Expresses His Love for Us

I will be teaching on How God Expresses His Love for Us

God is a God of love and compassion. A key verse that shows this is John 3:16

John 3:16 New International Version (NIV)

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Because of how much God loved us he gave himself through his son Jesus so that many could be saved and have eternal life. This is later echoed in John 15:13

John 15:13 King James Version (KJV)

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

How many of you would lay your own life for a friend let alone a stranger? Jesus carried that cross for all of us. Even when he was being mocked and insulted on the cross, he still cried out that God should forgive them for they know not what they have done.

Even thinking about it, makes me weep because his Grace did all of this. God’s love is through his unmerited GRACE.

Grace is when you are given something when you do not qualify nor deserve it.

An analogy that can explain this is, imagine a son who is paralyzed and is like a vegetable. His father asks him if there is one thing he could do to make his life worthwhile, what would it be? And his son says he would like to experience a triathlon (a race where people swim, run and cycle for an extended amount of time). And the father trains just for his son and builds a bike, swimming raft to accommodate his son. And he runs the entire race with his son’s weight and the thing that gives him energy/strength is seeing the smile on his son’s face while he is doing all that. The boy didn’t deserve all that, but his father volunteered and sacrificed a lot just to see his son happy.

Another example is through the Parable of the Lost/ Prodigal Son. this can be seen in Luke 15: 11-32

The parable of the Lost Son

Verse 22-24

22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate

The lost son didn’t deserve it but, because of the father’s love towards him, he commanded his servants to dress him up like a king because him being alive meant more to him than what he did.

If a father can do this, what more can our heavenly father do?

Once you open your eyes to his Grace and love you will realize that he loves you far more than you think. His will is to help you and give you the best. But with great things, comes great sacrifice and dedication. He needs to see that you understand it isn’t by your power but it is on his own. His Grace is sufficient for all of us. And the way God loves is very romantic

I remember when @chuksvisaac mentioned it and I later understood what he meant. There will be a time when you will have so many rejections and Nos, and you’ll wonder why me? Others are getting their job/grades/answers so easily, why do I have to have to put extra effort into this?

But remember that not everything you see is right for you. Just because others are getting theirs doesn’t mean it is from God. The devil also gives out gifts too… the only difference is God won’t ask for your life in return. His gifts are permanent and he will always give far above your request.

A friend of mine said this to me :

An Eagle who flies amongst pigeons will be rejected. A lion who walks amongst cats will also be dismissed. All because they are different. And God has made those who are in Christ different. And this is seen in 1 Peter 2:9

1 Peter 2:9 New International Version (NIV)

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

We are meant to stand out and be the light and salt of this world. But most importantly, we are expected to reflect the father’s love to all that we meet. When they see you, let them see Jesus.

Remember this :

John 3:16 New International Version (NIV)

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

This is why we need to reflect his love for others. Many are in darkness and don’t know Christ. But they can see his love expressed through us by what we do and say.

Thank you for listening,

God bless you
