Recently, I completed a significant milestone in my life and was elated at how far I came and what I managed to achieve. In the midst of it, anxiety and fear crept in and made me doubt the new direction my life will take and how things will be. This went on for a while but then I realised how it robbed me of the present and its blessings.
Tomorrow will take care of itself. A faithful saying and one that helped me a lot. It is essential to focus on the now and think about how it will affect the future. If all we bring into the present is a worry then why should we harvest anything more than anxiety and fear?
Fear is a spirit that ties many of us down, and the important thing is to remember that we have a God who never fails, who will never leave us nor forsake us. Our focus should be on him, and it is easy to be distracted by the things of the world mainly as they can suffocate us and dampen our spirit. During these moments I encourage you to seek the word and find a song or a verse that speaks to your heart. And through that have faith!
An example of this is the verse that says ” I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.” Notice how it means I can do ALL THINGS, not many or a few, but ALL. There is no problem God can’t fix. He is just waiting for you to lean on him and to cast all your worries onto him. Let us go back to the verse, it also says, through Christ that strengthens me. We need to be in Christ and accept him. We can’t give what we don’t have and by taking Jesus as our Lord and personal savior is essential. We can not do things on our own. It is by his Grace. Our righteousness alone is like filthy rags to him; his righteousness is perfect!
Going back to the subject, there are joys in the new beginning and the joy comes in putting one’s hope and focus on the now and appreciating God for his goodness and blessings in our lives. Worrying doesn’t add anything to us, but by laying it down at Jesus’s feet, we receive total and perfect peace.
So remember, great things are on their way, focus on God and he won’t lead you astray.
