When I look back,
I want to remember,
Not just my successes,
But my failures and mistakes –
For the world shines its light
And beam her glow upon glee and blitz
Alas! It hides her face
When you are marred by dust and sweat
So I strive to seek not man’s praise
So by it, I won’t stumble
When I look back,
I see just not my own wins and losses alone,
I also see those of others,
Those who have gone ahead of me,
And those who are behind me,
Peradventure, I am faced with a repeated dilemma
Or at its worst, a trilemma,
I would have learnt a thing or two
For only a fool will refute knowledge
And the ignorant, be content with his wisdom
So when I look back,
I seek to learn,
I seek to be better,
I seek to be great…
