THEY, THEM

We live our lives for them,
Though we know them not,
But it seems they know us
For we say,
What will they say?
How will they perceive me?
Pray tell, who are they?
The unknown people that know us?
The crowd whose opinions matter?
We live our lives for them
We dress for them,
We are careful so they won’t get angry
I wonder if we would ever meet them,
The unknown people that know us?
The crowd whose opinions matter?
Won’t it be better if we lived for God?
Won’t it be better if we lived for us?
Won’t it be better to be happy?
And forget about ‘them’ for a moment…
