As I speak on Thanksgiving, I wanted to share a short story.
A few months ago, I was diving into the word of God and came across the word grace. I didn’t really understand it but after researching and watching some sermons I understood that grace is freely given to us by God. Not because we deserve it or do anything but, because he is God. And this reminded me of a song that some of us may know you are God by Nathaniel Bassey and the part that stood out to me is you are God all by yourself. He doesn’t need us or anything to show how great he is. He is complete and great all by himself. I don’t know about you, but I serve a living God!
Now, as I was searching on the word Thanksgiving three scriptures came to mind:
Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
Colossians 4:2 KJV
To watch means to look out for something to be anticipating something. While praying and hoping in God, it is important to anticipate him with thanksgiving and praise. This is very important as Thanksgiving opens the door of favour.
This is also echoed in the following scripture
And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.
Psalms 107:22 KJV
My beloved, Thanksgiving is very important. Saying Jesus I thank you shouldn’t be a struggle, especially to a god who has made you be alive today. You are not better than those who have passed away. It is by his mercies that we are not consumed
