What goes on in your mind, little one?
When you stare with eyes wide-opened
Do you wonder how all came to be;
Or do what you see give you glee?
When in slumber you lay, little one
What do you see in dreamland?
Do you mingle with the angelic beings
With praises and singing?
What makes your heart gladen little one
When you smile with great admiration
Do you see the heavens open
With angels from on high descending?

When you shout, O little one
Do you sing a heavenly tone
That man’s mind cannot fathom
Or do you seek mother’s attention?
When you cry out little one
With tears from your fountain
Is your heart heavy for mankind?
Or are you hungry or with sleep laden?
In all of God’s creation, little one
You are most pure and innocent
But as age comes, you shall see vile
My prayer is that you be without guile
