WISHES AND GRATITUDE

I wish I can fly like the eagle
I wish I can sing like the bird
I wish I could stand tall like the oak
I wish I could be fast like the cheetah
I wish I can jump like the kangaroo
I wish I can be regal like the peacock
I wish a lot of things
I wish I had a lot of things
I wish I did not have a lot of things
I wish a lot of things…

I tend to focus on my have nots
I tend to focus on my haves
But most importantly,
I am most grateful
I am most grateful for family
I am most grateful for faith
I am most grateful for love
I am most grateful for hope
I am most grateful for community
I am most grateful for life
I am most grateful for nature
Rather than wish, I am grateful
I am grateful for everything
Both for that I have and have not
For that I see and see not
