Sometimes, I, like Epicurus
Am faced with a trilemma,
And ask, like he did
‘From whence come evil?’
Indeed, I have once asked,
‘From whence come pain?’
‘Why do bad things happen to good people?’
‘Is life fair?’
These and many more questions,
Juggle my mind day and night,
I have been asked questions
That I know not the answers
And may never know…
For such is the result
Of every man’s sojourn
On his life’s quest.
In our knowledge,
Ignorance will still abound
No matter how much we strive –
For this is our lot
As mortals here on earth.
But I pray,
That when I stand before the Pearly Gates
That I get my soul’s answers

(c) Chukwudi I.
