3 must-have seasonings in 2022

Apart from the mighty trio (garlic, onion and ginger), there are 3 great seasonings you must have in 2022.

  1. Italian garlic herb seasoning

I discovered this seasoning last year and it has been a game-changer. Great for any dish that has butter and very good on veggies like sweet corn and also sweet potatoes. It has a natural blend of herbs that complement each other.

[Bonus tip! thyme and curry powder are very good together and helps to bring a nice warmth to any tomato/pepper base stew]

2. Nutmeg

A very delicious ingredient for both sweets, pastries and meat. It bumps up any pastry and also helps to add a savoury sweetness to meats. There are many different species of Nutmeg and each has its own special twist. Nutmeg is a seasoning that is very diverse and is great with most dishes except fish.

Just remember that a little goes a long way!

3. Smoked Paprika

A great spice for those who don’t like spicy food. Smoked paprika is a whole level above regular paprika and helps to add warmth, colour and also a sweet chilli taste to any dish. It’s great and all food (fish, veggies, meat, poultry). I discovered Smoked paprika when I was introduced to sweet potato fries and I have loved it since. It’s a must for marinates, sauces and also for its vibrant colours.

Please note that with some brands, their smoked ranges contain a lot more salt than usual so please adjust the salt level to match your preference.
